Molykote
Molykote is a specialty lubricants brand founded in 1948 by American scientist Alfred Sonntag, built originally around molybdenum disulfide based "miracle lubes." The brand was long carried under Dow Corning, and following the 2017 DowDuPont merger and the 2019 split of that company, Molykote became a DuPont owned brand. Today it spans anti-friction coatings, compounds, dispersions, greases, pastes, and oils and fluids, formulated from chemistries including silicones, perfluoropolyethers (PFPE), and specialty hydrocarbons. Molykote lubricants are engineered for severe duty conditions such as extreme temperatures, heavy loads, corrosive environments, and wide speed ranges. The brand primarily serves the automotive and industrial maintenance, repair, and overhaul (MRO) markets worldwide.

Grease
Greases are solid to semisolid lubricants made up of a base oil, a thickening agent, and additives, used wherever a flowing oil is impractical. Molykote's grease line spans mineral and synthetic bases in a wide range of consistencies, formulated for rolling element bearings, gears, conveyors, slides, and other moving parts under everything from light duty to severe duty conditions. Within that range, some greases are built around general purpose or extreme pressure formulations, others use perfluoropolyether (PFPE) base oils for chemically demanding environments, and others are tuned specifically for electric motor and precision equipment bearings.
Anti-Friction Coatings
Anti-friction coatings are paint-like products that cure to a thin, dry, solid lubricant film bonded to a part's surface, in place of a conventional wet oil or grease. Molykote's coatings use finely divided solid lubricants such as molybdenum disulfide and graphite dispersed in a resin binder, applied by spraying, dipping, or brushing. They are used for long-term, low-maintenance lubrication of precision parts, dusty environments, and locations that are difficult to re-lubricate.
Pastes
Pastes are grease-like materials with a very high concentration of solid lubricants, used mainly for the assembly and running-in of heavily loaded, slow-moving metal parts such as threaded fasteners. Where an oil or grease would be squeezed out of contact under extreme load, the solid lubricants in a paste form a tenacious film that prevents seizure and galling.
Release Compounds
Molykote's silicone compounds are grease-like materials made of silicone fluid and inert silica fillers, resistant to oxidation and thermal breakdown across a wide temperature range. They're formulated as release agents for molding and other manufacturing processes, and many also double as O-ring lubricants, dielectric moisture barriers, and non-curing sealants.
